Graduation Cords

Honors Scholar Program

The Honors Scholar Program provides students who are not in the Honors College with an opportunity to reap many of the benefits of the Honors experience and to graduate with an Honors designation. Students may enter the Honors Scholar program by many different avenues: including Phi Theta Kappa transfers, students nominated by their department, or students who come to the Honors later in their college experience.

Students in the Honors Scholar Program must meet the following requirements to graduate with Honors distinction:

  • Complete two Honors-only courses
  • Complete the Honors Thesis sequence of courses (HC 300 Thesis Seminar, HC 491 Honors Independent Readings, HC 490 Honors Thesis)
  • Successfully defend the Honors Thesis in front of a committee of Honors faculty members
  • Maintain a 3.3 GPA at the time of graduation
